This week, Harris Teeter is having a buy 1 get 1 free meat sale, which really means half price.
I bought a pork tenderloin, a chuck roast, and last week I snagged hamburger for 2.99 a pound.
So today, I took an hour and broke down the packages, seasoned the meat, bagged it in the food sealer, and stuck it in the freezer.
Then one afternoon when I’m not in the mood to cook, or none of the stores have any meat on sale, I’ll just pick out something, and probably throw it in the sous vide. Even frozen! Make some box mix of rice or potatoes, nuke some frozen vegetables, and have a delicious meal with hardly any work.
I ended up with
3 huge salisbury steaks, cooking right now for supper tonight
5 hamburger patties
1 huge chuck roast, ready to go in the sous vide for a delicious, sliceable roast beef
And a bulgogi marinated pork tenderloin. This is something I’m kind of making up; If it turns out good, you’ll hear all about it. If not, you’ll never hear it mentioned again.
And as long as I had my sealer out, I bagged up my leftover spaghetti sauce and meatballs, since there’s more than enough for another full meal. They’ll stay much better in a sealed bag.
