My youngest daughter was supposed to do backyard camping with her friend. We always try to find COVID safe activities outdoors. Unfortunately the one night they planned had temperatures as low as 29. Yikes! Neither like cold weather so they decided to reschedule for a weekend in the future. In the meanwhile, she had camping fever so Mama had to come up with a solution before her Spring Break was over.
Luckily, one of my BFFs own a 180acre farm in Thomasville which is less than 2 hours away. She has goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. It’s a menagerie! We plan to camp for one night and the weather could not be better. We borrowed cots from my brother (because I’m too old for sleeping on the ground). We are packing and overnight bag and taking an extension cord so we can keep our electronics charged. Okay so I guess it is more GLAMPing than camping.
I have tried to keep the kids entertained as they were both off on opposite weeks for Spring Break. So far I have taken each girl and three of their best friends out for one on one outdoor adventures to the NC zoo (three times), the science museum in Raleigh, and the NC Art Museum. It was nice to see them being kids and enjoying themselves even while wearing masks and reminding ourselves not to touch anything. This camping sleepover will be the last of the activities until Summer break.
Camping is NOT my favorite thing to do. You have to pack too much and I hate setting up the tent. The only time I have ever totally enjoyed camping was with JoAnne. She is a Girl Scout leader so all I had to do was show up and eat her food. We also drank a gallon of Sangria. Good time was had by both of us as far as I can remember. LOL
Do you like camping? What do you like and dislike about it? Where are great places to camp in your opinion?
