Mother’s Day is next month so I made a lot of cards for family and friends. I usually do not send Mother’s Day cards to this many people but the last two years has been tough and I felt that moms needed an extra “shout out” so I made a list of my favorite moms and went to creating!

If you look at the Prized Peony set from Stampin’ Up you can easily get overwhelmed by the sheer number of dies. This set is special because once you cut with a few selective dies, you can BUILD a peony and create almost a 3D effect. It is gorgeous but I had no idea how to get started so of course I looked it up on Youtube. Youtube is a crafter’s dream come true! I actually watched a few different ones and took different steps from all of them.

I’m not sure what I was worried about because once I knew HOW to line up the pieces it came together effortlessly. I had a great time playing with sponging and other ways of coloring the petals to make them look a bit more natural.

After making six of the layered ones, I went to town using the stamps in the set to make some more:

This set really is a good one to make a variety of cards based on the same theme. The stamps are particularly detailed and quite pretty. If you are interested in buying any of the products reach out to my friend Tracy:

No matter what product you use, make something with your HANDS and create – do not judge yourself harshly and enjoy the process. It’s good for your mental health. Cheers!
You are one talented, creative Mama!!

My mom just loves Mother’s Day cards. See values them over any gift. Every year I spend a great deal of time trying to get a card she will love. It’s getting harder as many have rather shallow, glib, or “all about me,” verses. I can’t stand the ones that on the surface appear to praising the mom, but really are all about the child.
Your cards are stunning. Where do you get inspiration for the designs and the verses? Do you really have beautiful handwriting (my sister Diane does) or is that a print?

Fun!! For a good stretch, my girlfriends and I were taking turns hosting stamping up parties! They were great fun and it was cool to get creative and chitchat! 🙂 I miss those times!
