I love the macabre. I have liked spooky stories and scary movies ever since I was a little kid. I’m not sure what the attraction was as I was rarely scared in real life (except for the basement. EVERY basement seems creepy). Maybe it was because I had a scary mom that all the other stuff seemed made up? LOL
I have been watching all the movies in the Conjuring/Annabelle universe. My best friend Bonnie introduced me to Conjuring a long time ago and I thought it was a terrific movie because it was based on real people. I don’t believe in ghosts, witches, demons or any of that but I sure love watching movies about them.
I realized that I had missed a lot of movies in 2019 because that was when Daddy was dealing with his lung cancer. So this year I finally felt like catching up so I watched The Curse of La Llorona with Bonnie via text. We turn on the movie at the same time from our separate homes and then text like crazy during the movie. It’s silly but fun. I type a lot of OmgomgomgOMGomg and ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! We started doing this during lockdown and now do it still because it’s a fun way to spend two hours together without driving anywhere. LOL She had already seen Annabelle Comes Home so I watched that on my own and I have to say that one spooked me quite a bit. Maybe watching it alone in the living room in pitch black darkness while there was a storm raging outside was not a great idea. Or, maybe I’ve gotten more chicken shit in my old age.
However, today I felt like seeing humans in person and since I’m fully vaccinated I decided to drive an hour and a half to Bonnie’s farm so we could watch THE CONJURING: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT on HBO Max (I don’t have that service). First, we fed the chickens, pigs and goats. We played with the dogs and we had lunch. She uses Goldbelly and got French Dip Sandwich kits from Philippe https://www.philippes.com the home of the original french dipped sandwich. IT.WAS.SO.GOOD. She spoils me like that. Oh, and her man put it all together and SERVED it to me – how do you like them apples? I’m not used to be served and it was very pleasant.
Anyway, I digress. So Conjuring 3 was very good. It was set in 1981 and it continues the Edward and Lorraine Warren paranormal investigative duo who had founded the New England Society of Psychic Research. No, I’m not kidding. These people ACTUALLY existed in real life and the movies are based on some of their reports. Did you watch the Amityville horror movie in 1979? I did and it scared the crap out of me. The rest of the series that followed were meh but that first one was a good one. Most horror movies are crap and I love watching them just to see how bad they are but every once in awhile a decent one comes along. I would say Conjuring 1,2 &3 is worth seeing for sure.
It was a fun few hours away from home and being around a friend and seeing happy farm animals. JoAnne nor my sister watches scary movies and think I am weird for liking them and even though they love me they will NOT watch them with me so I guess it is good I have another best friend who loves them as much as me. =)
