I went to my yearly mammogram appointment this morning. As always, an absolutely professional woman had to pull my breasts around and press them between plates and crank them flat to take an image of the insides of them. I’m not complaining. Well, okay I am a little. Yes, it is uncomfortable but one of my friends just celebrated 10 years of being cured of breast cancer so I would rather have a little pinch than breast cancer.
STILL, I hope a woman invents a better way to scan our breasts so us big girls don’t have to be hefted around and the IBTC girls don’t have to nearly have theirs yanked off to get an image. I am excited that 3D is now the norm. Surely there is a bright female engineer out there working on a machine that is more comfortable. You can do eeeeeet! I always have hope.
I know the scan be embarrassing for you shy gals. I’m over 50, have 2 kids via 2 C sections and I don’t know how many people have touched my body parts (all professionally of course) so I have ZERO pride left. I think it’s funny that they ask me to wear a hospital gown – like I care who sees my whatsits. LOL
Cancer is no joke – cancer is greedy and it does not care how old you are, what color you are or where your parents were born. It does not care about your religion or politics. It matters not who you bed or wed. It is nasty. So do yourself a favor and if you are a female and you have breasts – get them scanned – okay? Okay!
