When JoAnne mentioned Xmas MUZAK from Kmart I had to curl up in a fetal position and rock back and forth until I got over the yucky memories that brought back. The only thing good about any of that canned repetitive music was when one of the FABULOUS gays at Kmart would belt out a Whitney song.
I think one of the things I don’t like about Xmas songs is the repetition. Sure, there is the country version of Oh Holy Night, the Italian classical version, the rap version, the angsty dark version. . . but.they.are.still.the.same.song! Then the incessant playing of the songs EVERYWHERE YOU GO! The doctor’s office, grocery stores, department stores, gas stations, it seems you can’t escape it.
Every year I joke that when I hear Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” I know the commercial Xmas season has begun. LOL Granted some of the songs are actually decent in their own right, I dread hearing them because I know it will not stop for months. I purposefully only listen to Pandora so I can continue to enjoy funk, 80s rock, dubstep, Celtic rock and whatever my kids like. . .Fallout Boys? Panic with the Disco? Imagine Dragons? I do like Dua Lipa – she’s pretty cool.
Having kids who were in girl scouts meant we had to go caroling once a year at an old folk’s home. How do I say no to that? I’m not even that big of a Grinch. I would be forced to sing with them as they awkwardly tried to remember words to Here Come’s Santa Claus or Up On The Rooftop. The elderly ate it up, the kids got to feel good about themselves and we got cookies at the end so it was no insufferable. I have to say I am very happy both girls are Juliettes which means I never have to go caroling again! Whoo hooo! Don’t worry I will make sure the girls still give back to the community – just not by singing carols.

My 10 Xmas favs are:
Another Lonely Christmas-Prince. Many folks have never even heard his only Christmas song.
Someday at Christmas-Stevie Wonder
2000 Miles-Pretenders
Please Come Home for Christmas-Eagles
Feels like Christmas-Cindi Lauper
River-Joni Mitchell
Father Christmas-Kinks
Christmas Time-The Darkness
Last Christmas-Wham!
And of course….Christmas at Ground Zero-Weird Al
Nothing very traditional here.

I know Prince’s song! He is my all time favorite artist. My friend played drums for him on one tour. The world is less purple and less amazing with him not in it. Sigh. I love your list. Those are way more tolerable than “Up on the House top” or “All I want for Christmas. . .”
